First I would like to say "THANK YOU" Your advise on what to do with my cabinet was so important to me and I have now decided I am going to paint it!! (I was secretly hoping that is what you would say, hehehe) It is going to be a BIG project for me though so, I will be painting an old buffet first. (My practice project.) And then I will paint the cabinet. Just waiting for warmer wheather before I get started since I will be painting them in the garage. Wish me luck and Thanks again!
This is a picture I found at an estate sale. When I saw it ,I had to have it. I think I only paid $2 or $3 for it. It is pretty banged up and has a lot of imperfections but I love it!

I guess I am am too late for my opinion(on the hutch).....I might have said~"keep it dark". Mostly because~I have a mix of lights and darks in my house and enjoy it...plus I hate to paint~LOL
I have not posted a lot of pics of my house....will in the next few weeks.
I have the same picture of this little boy and also have the little girl and she is holding a kitty. Their both so cute! My best friend gave this pair to me about 50 years ago and I still have them hanging in my home. I have the name of these paintings somewhere but will have to look for them.
